Family Sessions at the Studio

One of the most common things I hear from people passing my studio is that they’ve left it too long since they last had a family photo. People leave it too long to take a little bit of time to book in for a family session to capture their growing families and I cannot stress the importance of doing this.

We fall into the habit of whipping out our phones to snap a few shots of our families, but the problem with that is, someone’s got to take the photo. (Yes, I know there’s selfie mode, but the quality just isn’t the best!)

In a studio environment, you have the space to move around, you’ve got a professional telling you what to do and to put you at ease. You’re in your own space with no one else but the photographer around so that you and your family can relaxed and be yourselves. And not to mention that you’ll going to get the best quality photos at the end of it.

Family sessions at the studio are for all families. And yes, you can 100% bring your dog along too!

Tips for your family session:

  • If you’ve got young children, bring some snacks and their favourite toy. Kids need to be kept distracted (and occasionally bribed!)
  • If you’ve got a child younger than 2 years old, try and book your family session that fits in with their nap time. I’ve had my fair share of babies that have crossed the threshold for their nap times, and it’s not pretty! It’s pretty much the end of the session once the youngest one is tired. If you need to turn up to the start of your session with a sleeping baby, that’s absolutely fine!
  • Bring a change of clothes! Not that you’re going to get messy or anything, so that you can have a variety in your photos. Clients are more than welcome to change at the studio.
