So I’m going to start off with the venue. Down Hall is a venue that’s been on my bucket list for a while. It’s one of those venues that just screams elegance at every corner! I’ve seen so many lovely weddings take place there just waiting for the day that I get to capture one myself. Enter Anastasia and Kenneth.
When these two contacted me to enquire about their wedding, I literally ran to my diary, yes my old skool book diary, to make sure that I had their date available. Yasss! We met over a zoom call, as they lived in Scotland. Very jealous! He’s from Scotland, she’s from Essex, and they made sure that their heritage showed throughout their day. Kenneth and the guys obviously wore kilts! Anastasia had English roses and Scottish thistles in her bouquet. But it was the ceremony that got me. First time that I have witnessed this, they had the traditional Quaich Ceremony. For those that don’t know, “The Quaich, a two handled loving cup, is an ancient Scottish tradition that seals the bond of two people, and marks the blending of two families”. So for this, they chose whiskey and water.
One top tip I want future couples to take from this wedding is………garden games are a hit! I found out that they got their garden games from amazon, and I was in awe of the light up sack boards! First time seeing those! Fabulous way to keep your guests entertained!
I was told it’s also a family tradition on Anastasia’s side that her mum always makes the cake for any special occasion, yes, even the weddings! The personal touches were never ending, it was like a never ending easter egg hunt with all of the different things related to the couple on this cake!
